A Queen City Girl: The Pat Rice Story is a documentary about one of the most respected and adored individuals in the Cincinnati music scene. Through interviews with bands, venue owners, promoters, and local organizers, this documentary explores just who this woman is, and the origins of her curious hobby. For the past ten years, 65-year-old Pat Rice has been devoutly showing up to local music events around the city. What started as a passive way to kill time became a way of life, and now, you'd be hard pressed to find someone at a bar or venue that didn't know who she was.

The idea for this video came about in 2006 or so, when a friend and I thought it would be a great idea to sit down with Pat and do an audio interview with her, and maybe do some published writing about it. I had known Pat for a year or two at that point. For many reasons, especially time, that idea got put on the back burner until February 2009, when I received an email about the offering of a Senior Video Project for the upcoming quarter, my last one as an undergraduate student. "Perfect," I thought, "I'll make that Documentary about Patty!"

Three months later, after two or three very intense weeks of production, 120GB of source HD video, two and a half weeks in the edit suite, this is the final product. I hope you enjoy it, and get a better idea of who this amazing woman is. She is one of my best friends, and I know many others can say the same thing. Huge respects to my awesome production team. It couldn't be (and wasn't) conceivable before they stepped up to make this thing a reality.

Thanks for your interest.
